Judith:Oh? Why’s that?
Yannis:It’s just that I wouldn’t expect a career woman like you to go for someone like me.
Judith:Haha, is that the impression I make on you?
Yannis:Well, it sounds like you’re very successful at your job, and you know exactly what you want in life…
Judith:That’s funny. Actually, most of the time I totally feel like I’m just winging it!
Yannis:Are you kidding? I never would have guessed that. You seem so confident.
Judith:Well, thank you. That’s kind of you to say. So you mean you don’t feel confident yourself?
Yannis:I try to be. It’s just that I’ve felt a bit aimless recently.

キーフレーズ
“(make/be) a good match” お似合いである
ある男女がお似合いである場合や理想的なカップルになりそうであると話し手が感じている場合に使われるフレーズです。
例）Debと友人のCindyが共通の友人Cathyの新しい彼氏のことを話しています。
Deb:I just don’t understand what Cathy sees in him. She’s so outgoing, and he’s too shy and quiet.
Cindy:I disagree. I think they’re a good match because they balance each other out!
Deb:Cathyがあいつのどこに惹かれたのかよくわからないよ。Cathyってすごく社交的なのに、あいつはおとなしくて、内気な感じだろ。
Cindy:そうは思わないわ。お互いにバランス取れてて、お似合いのカップルだと私は思うわ！

“go for (someone/something)” ～に魅力を感じる
特定のタイプの人やものが自分の好みであり、そうした人やものを選ぶ傾向があることを言う際に使われるイディオムです。
例）Tonyは親友のBennyと女性の好みについて話しています。
Tony:I’m not sure why, but I often go for red-haired girls.
Benny:Dude, I totally get it. Red hair on girls just looks great!
Tony:何でかわからないけど、赤毛の子を好きになることが多いんだよな、俺。
Benny:なあ、俺にはすごいよくわかるよ。女の子で赤毛って、最高じゃん！
Tony:I’m not sure why, but I often go for red-haired girls.

“wing (something)” 即興で行う
事前に準備したり、予行演習することなく即興で物事を行うことを意味するフレーズで、相手に過度な期待をさせたくないような場合によく使われる表現です。
例）お昼休みにShaunと同僚のLindaがおしゃべりをしています。
Shaun:I completely forgot to practice for my presentation on Monday, so I had to wing it.
Linda:Uh-oh… how did it go?
Shaun:月曜のプレゼン、準備するのすっかり忘れててさ、ぶっつけ本番でやる羽目になったんだよ。
Linda:あら、大変だったわね… それでプレゼンはどうだったの？
Shaun:I completely forgot to practice for my presentation on Monday, so I had to wing it.
Linda:Uh-oh… how did it go?
Shaun:月曜のプレゼン、準備するのすっかり忘れててさ、ぶっつけ本番でやる羽目になったんだよ。
Linda:あら、大変だったわね… それでプレゼンはどうだったの？
“take (over/up) the reins” 主導権を握る
人がある事柄について主導権を握っていることや支配的な立場にあることを言う際に使われるフレーズです。乗馬をする際に乗り手が“reins”（手綱）使って馬を操ることに由来する表現です。
例）Lianneと同僚のGavinがあるプロジェクトの話をしています。
Lianne:It’s just frustrating that nobody seems to know who’s in charge of this.
Gavin:Well, why don’t you just take up the reins of the project, then?
Lianne:本当にイライラするわ、誰がこれの責任者だか、誰もわかってないみたいで。
Gavin:じゃあ、君がプロジェクトの主導権握っちゃえばいいんじゃない？
Lianne:It’s just frustrating that nobody seems to know who’s in charge of this.
Gavin:Well, why don’t you just take up the reins of the project, then?
Lianne:本当にイライラするわ、誰がこれの責任者だか、誰もわかってないみたいで。
