キーフレーズ
“be on to (something)” 言えてる
正しい答や判断を導き出せそうな重要な情報を知っていることを意味するフレーズです。
例）Tomoが友人Rufusのパソコンのトラブルを解決しようとしています。
Tomo: Hey, have you tried changing the settings on your firewall?
Rufus: Hmm… I think you’re on to something.
Tomo: ねえ、ファイヤーウォールの設定は変えてみた？
Rufus: そうか… それ、いいとこ突いてるかも。

“come out” 合計で～になる
金額などが最終的にいくらになるかを言い表す際に使われるフレーズです。
例）JulianaとIngridがカフェでお昼を食べています。
Juliana: Oh no, I only have $10 in my wallet.
Ingrid: Don’t worry. It should come out to less than $10.
Juliana: いけない、お財布に10ドルしかないわ。
Ingrid: 大丈夫だよ。10ドルもいかないはずだから。

“kill two birds with one stone” 一石二鳥を得る
2つの異なる事柄を同時に成し遂げることを意味するフレーズです。
例）Deanと妹のSamanthaは仕事でシアトルに行く予定です。
Dean: Uncle Bob lives in Seattle, right? How about we visit him when we’re there?
Samantha: Great idea! That would kill two birds with one stone.
Dean: Bobおじさんってシアトルに住んでるんだよね？ついでにおじさんのとこ行ったらどうかな？
Samantha: いい考え！一石二鳥よ。
